Founded in 1961, J&D began as a small, local operation built on a simple mission: deliver honest, quality service to families in our community. Established by John and Doyle, the OG J&D, the company was rooted in hard work, craftsmanship, and a commitment to doing things the right way from day one.

For current owner Kirk Miko, owning and operating a small business wasn’t just a goal, it was a calling. In 1995, that calling became reality when he came across J&D for sale through an ad in The Wall Street Journal and he took the opportunity to carry its legacy forward. The shop still reflects its history, even down to original fixtures dating back to World War II, which serves as a reminder of the strong foundation the company was built on.

Since then, we’ve grown and evolved with the times but our core beliefs haven’t changed. We remain locally owned and operated (which is rare these days), and we continue to operate with an old-school mindset: take care of people, and everything else will follow.
